After reading most of the books in the Beatrix Potter collection, we had a small party. As you can see, we found many of the storybook friends to join us. We tried to include some food from a few stories: "butterfly" sandwiches (Tale of Jeremy Fisher), sandwiches with blackberry jam (Peter Rabbit), nuts (Tale of Squirrel Nutkin), cheese (to catch those Two Bad Mice), and carrots (Tale of the Fierce Bad Rabbit). Later, I would like to go back and do nature study from most every book. There are so many animals, plants, flowers, etc. mentioned. The vocabulary is pretty challenging too. I also found myself laughing more than I thought, there are things the kids didn't even catch-these books are really classics-for all ages.
Been so busy

So beautiful and inviting! Is this a part of FIAR or is this on your own? I really like how you tie in aspects of the stories.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Peter Rabbit is part of FIAR, I just decided to read as many of the other Potter books as I could. FIAR alone has plenty of ideas. There is also a FIAR cookbook.
